Principal, Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar
Prof. Saroj Kumar Sarangi joined as Principal of the Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, on October 4, 2024. Prior to this appointment, he was a professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, bringing with him over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and administration. He holds a Post-Doctoral Research degree from the Department of Micro Electronics, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, and earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. His academic credentials also include an M.Tech. from the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT), Ranchi, and a B.E. from University College of Engineering (UCE), Burla.
Prof. Sarangi specializes in areas such as CVD Diamond Coating, High-Speed Machining, and the Joining of Metal-Ceramics. His research interests encompass a range of topics, including High-Speed Machining, UBMS PVD Hard Coatings, Ceramic-Metal Brazing, Thermal Conductivity Measurement Techniques in Nanocoatings, and CVD Graphene Growth. He has successfully guided 05 Ph.D. candidates and supervised 30 M.Tech. candidates through their studies.
Throughout his career, Prof. Sarangi has secured numerous research grants, demonstrating his ability to lead impactful projects. Notable funding includes a project from DST (SERC) in 2007 for the design and development of a CVD setup for diamond coating, amounting to ₹18.36 Lakhs, DST-FIST 70 Lakhs, as well as various projects from AICTE (RPS), AICTE (MODROBS), CSIR (EMR) and UGC (MRP) focused on advanced materials and processes, with total sanctioned amounts exceeding ₹100 Lakhs. He has published 30 research papers in international journals and authored the book Development of HFCVD Diamond Tool for Machining Non-Ferrous Materials, published by Lambert Academic Publishing in August 2016.
